The Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) is turning a year older on Monday, March 11, with a simple celebration dubbed as “Sinadya sa ICCC.”

“We take pride in the realization of this dream to have our very own community college here in the city of Iloilo and for that we are grateful to everyone who has helped make this possible,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, College President, said.

A foot parade from ICCC going to Brgy. San Pedro, passing Molo Plaza and back to the campus, will mark the start of the day’s activities.

Dean Catalina Sanico said there will be a short program where the mayor is invited together with Lone District Cong. Jerry Treñas and Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III.

“There’s going to be a tribes’ presentation in the morning and various student competitions in the afternoon,” she said.

There will be a quiz bee on cultural heritage sites, speech contest and mural painting contest, Sanico added.

The ICCC was approved for opening by the City Council through a resolution passed in March 2012.
The first batch of almost 300 poor but deserving city high school graduates became city government scholars taking up Bachelor in Travel Management and Bachelor in Office Management as initial offered courses.

Construction of the school building was of no cost to the city government but through the P25-million donation of businessman Edgar “Injap” Sia.
