Iloilo City launches Dinagyang 2014

Dinagyang 2014 officially started Wednesday, September 18, with a memorable launching at the Penthouse of City Hall.

A memorandum of agreement was also signed between the triumvirate of the City Government, Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. and San Jose Parish for the staging of the world-renowned festival next year.

“This is a testament of how wonderfully public-private-partnership is being implemented in Iloilo City, much to the envy of other local government units,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

He said Dinagyang is already bringing not just the name of Iloilo to its international stints, but also the whole Philippines.

The theme for the 2014 edition: “Iloilo Dinagyang Festival, bringing ‘more fun’ to the world.”

The event was highlighted by a performance of Dinagyang champion, Tribu Panayanon, even as guests were treated to a breathtaking view of Iloilo City.
