“We want to give due recognition to women who have manifested exemplary performance in their field of profession that significantly contributed to the betterment of Ilonggos and city’s development,” stressed Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog.
First Lady Marivic G. Mabilog who delivered an inspirational message as guest speaker, commended the women for being independent, empowered, career-oriented and successful in their endeavors and extolled them as partners for progress and nation-building.
This year’s TOWIL awardees were:
Judge Ma. Rita B. Sarabia (judiciary), Mary Pauline G. Banusing (business & entrepreneurship), Sister Rosamond Marie Abadesco (religious sector), Imee S. Lopera (protective services), Meldy H. Castor (differently-abled), Cherrie J. Lebrillo (volunteerism and social and community service), Fely A. Batiloy (culture and arts), Elsa S. Subong (media, public information and journalism), Mary Jane Apines-Amar (science & technology), Febie S. Ibojos (NGO/civic organization), Cheryl A. Dueñas (professional service), and Diana S. Aure (education).
They were awarded in appreciation of their notable achievements including leadership skills or the ability to lead as well as inspire and enable others towards a goal.
The awardees were also credited for their commitment or number of years in the organization, dedication and sustainability of the advocacy; women empowerment or remarkable accomplishment that has major impacts towards a gender-fair society.
The admirable women are active in community and civic involvement with remarkable accomplishments that have major impacts to the Ilonggo society.
The City Hall’s Gender and Development Program together with City Council’s office of Committee on Women and Family Relations and city’s Gender and Development (GAD) Team spearheaded the undertaking.
