IMMS President Engr. Edilberto Romero said that they plan to start classes for school year June 2015-2016, with aim of producing quality cadet and cadettes that are globally competitive in maritime sector.
Among the board of directors of the school are Capt. Dexter Monserrate and Capt. Gilbert Banehit who are both graduates of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) and want to put to good use their trainings.
The duo are still active seamen just like the other board of directors but will be teaching also part time in the school.
Romero said that active seamen teaching in the school is one of the strengths of the institution as they could provide standardized trainings, which they are also striving to address with the besetting challenge on Filipino seamen meeting the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).
The school has a capacity to take in 300 students on Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation degrees who could now have their walk-in admission test. (via PNA)
