Mabilog: No classes on Monday, January 25

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog has announced the cancellation of classes for both public and private schools in all level in Iloilo City on Monday, January 25, 2016 in recognition of students, faculty and staff's contribution to the success of Dinagyang Festival.



The city mayor made the announcement during the Dinagyang Festival on Sunday, right after the performances of all the Ati tribes.

According to radio station Aksyon Radyo, Mabilog is still drafting the executive order for the suspension of classes in all levels of private and public schools around the city.

He is expected to make the official announcement during the awarding of winners in the festival, which will happen on Sunday night at Freedom Grandstand.

In view of this, West Visayas State University president Luis Sorolla issued an advisory in compliance with the mayor's order. Read below, as posted online by University Student Council Chairperson Christine Salao:

ADVISORY: The WVSU Administration hereby announces that in compliance wth the Executive Order of the City Mayor, the regular classes in the main campus is suspended tomorrow, Jan 25, 2016. However, the special programs and activities may go on as scheduled. Faculty and staff should report for work as usual. For information and guidance. -WVSU Admin.





Meanwhile, Central Philippine University (CPU) will have classes tomorrow as announced by President Teodoro Robles.

"CPU will have classes in all levels tomorrow (January 25, 2016). Thank you!"

The city government and Dinagyang Foundation have successfully held the festival, which attracted thousands of national and international tourists to Iloilo City.
