The Iloilo City Government through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) benefitted 198 students during summer job Special Program for Employment for Students (SPES) Project in cooperation with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 for the year 2017.

Most of the bebeficiaries are poor but deserving students, said PESO head Ma. Elena Benitez.

She added the students enjoyed their work in City Hall because they learned a lot in their everyday experiences and they can also apply their learnings in school and home.

"For this annual program, we allocate funds for this purpose to help them to pay their enrolment fees for the incoming school year," Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.

Out of 198 beneficiaries, 18 were SPES "babies" who worked for 30 days while 180 of them worked for 20 days.

They were assigned in various frontline offices to assist the employees and have chance to serve the City Hall's clients. [via Iloilo City PIO]
