Iloilo City Gov't to give ₱18M budget for Dinagyang 2018

The Iloilo City Government will give P18-million to the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) for the grand staging of Dinagyang’s 50th anniversary next year.

Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo, chairman of Committee on Appropriation of Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) said that of the amount, P15-million is intended for the subsidy of competing groups in the Ati Tribes Competition and Kasadyahan Regional Festival.

This will mean an increase in the financial support that IDFI gives to the tribes: P1- million subsidy for each Ati Tribe, while P500,000 subsidy for each Kasadyahan Festival participant.

“We will have something like 10 tribes to compete in the Ati Tribes Competition. Previously, we gave P500,000 as subsidy, however, realizing now the cost of uniforms, expenses for the practice and other incidental expenses in maintaining a tribe, it is now high time that we also increase (the subsidy) because sometimes, it is hard to get sponsorship,” said Peñaredondo.

The IDFI, the lead festival organizer, eyes to have PhP30 million budget for the Golden Year of Dinagyang slated on January 26 to 28, 2018.
