OWWA Region 6 scholars pass Teachers’ Board Exam

Three scholars under the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) OFW Dependents Scholarship Program (ODSP) in Region 6 were among the list of examinees announced by the Professional Regulation Commission to have passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers last November 26, 2017.

Ms. Nilrose Glee Z. Ureta and Ms. Charigenn B. Aurelio, scholars of OWWA 6, pass the September 2017 LET.

The scholars who passed the said exam were Ms. Smile Grace N. Getalado, a Special Education major who graduated cum laude from the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College; Ms. Charigenn B. Aurelio, a Physical Education major who graduated cum laude from the West Visayas State University; and Ms. Nilrose Glee Z. Ureta, a Bachelor of Secondary Education graduate from Aklan State University.

Ms. Wilfreda L. Misterio, the R6 Regional Director (RD), praised the scholars for passing the exam.

“The recent Teacher’s Board Examination results go to show that these scholars’ dedication and tireless work ethic can go a long way to rewarding them,” RD Misterio said. “The office is confident that these young people will do great things in their career in the future.”

The scholars were also thankful to the opportunities OWWA gave them.

“This scholarship helped me a lot, especially in my schooling and various expenses,” Ms. Getalado said. “In addition to this, it also helped in my mother’s financial burden when sending money back home to us. This scholarship is really a blessing to me.”




The ODSP, which grants qualified students financial assistance of ₱20,000.00 per school year, is exclusive to the beneficiaries and dependents of active OWWA members who are earning monthly salaries not exceeding US$600.00.
