The GIP is a component of Kabataan 2000 program which aims to provide employment to poor young workers in the country.
DOLE-6 Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom said the agency will employ a good number of young workers this 2014 under the GIP for a period of six months, who will receive 75% of the prevailing minimum wage in the region.
He encouraged the offices of the Congressmen to encourage their constituents to apply, particularly those who are high school or tech-voc graduates, unemployed college graduates, aged 18 to 25 years old.
The hiring will be both undertaken by the DOLE and the LGUs based on the guidelines set up by the DOLE Secretary.
Those hired will be doing among others, profiling of child laborers in the barangays, encoding of registrants in the Skills Registry System, assisting public school personnel or LGU personnel in functions not highly technical in nature, which may include assistance in data gathering for livelihood project proposals.
Ligutom said GIP exposes the young workers to the real world of work and gives them the opportunity to hone their skills and talents in the field of public service.
Further, the exposure hopes to attract the best and the brightest to pursue a career in government service, especially in labor and employment aspects. (PIA)
