The National Competitiveness Council (NCC) has ranked Iloilo City as one of the top cities in Government Efficiency category in its annual Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the NCC through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

It measures competitiveness at the local government level using 28 indicators grouped into three equally-weighted pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, and Infrastructure. Scores on each pillar were combined to form the overall score used to rank cities and municipalities.

Iloilo City is second in the Government Efficiency category with score of 22.294007. Naga came out on top with 24.365157 score, and Angeles City completed the top 3 with score of 21.117397.

Government Efficiency scores were based on data on transparency scores, economic governance scores, local taxes and revenues, local competition-related awards, business registration efficiency, investment promotion, compliance to national directives, security, health, and education.

In the Overall Competitiveness, Iloilo city is at rank 6 with total score of 45.002949. Makati is the most competitive city overall.

CMCI was launched in the Regional Competitiveness Summit of the council on August 7 at Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. [Full Index here]
