A total of 94 graduates benefited from free technical-vocational skills training for them to get accredited and have bigger chances to be hired.

They graduated March 10 after one to three months trainings conducted at the Technical Institute of Iloilo City (TIIC) Molo campus.
This is one of the initiatives of Bottoms Up Budgeting (BUB) Program of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA-Iloilo) and Local Poverty Reduction Action Team (LPRAT).

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog who is also LPRAT chairman stressed the project is part of the City Government's roadmap for transformation, equity and economic progress in the metropolis.

He encouraged first-time beneficiaries especially the youth to avail of trainings in order to help them find employment opportunities.

TIIC Molo campus Administrator Maria Mathilde T. Octavio said the graduates were added to the growing number of manpower such as technicians and craftsmen equipped with skills and training fully-certified by TESDA that will help spur the city's growth.

The recipients were trained on National Certificate (NC) including Carpentry NC II, Masonry NCII, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Plumbing NC II, Shielded Metal Arc NC I and NC II, Massage Therapy NC II and Processed Food NC II.

They will then take the assessment test for NC which serves as credential when applying for jobs locally and abroad.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office which identified the trainees, noted the plan aimed to empower the people to acquire knowledge and skills that help transform them to become self-sufficient and financially stable enterprising individuals.

The BUB scheme seeks to give assistance for city indigent residents to acquire skills, tool kits and training allowances to enhance their standard of living as well as provide economic advancement and better quality life.
