The Department of Health 6 is ready to construct its P330M regional office at Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

On August 18, 2017 Health Secretary Pauline Jean Ubial and Lourdes Diocson of PhilHealth 6 together with Governor Arthur Defensor sign a MOA and deed of donation for the lot in Sta. Barbara owned by the provincial government for DOH and PhilHealth regional offices.

The lot is located in the compound of West Visayas Sanitarium.

The original area is 10,000 square meters but because of road widening it was reduced to 8,000 square meters.
Of the said area 20% will go to PhilHealth and the 80% will be occupied by DOH.

According to DOH 6 director Marlyn Convocar, they plan to have a three-story building regional office and hopeful the construction will start early next year.

The lot where the regional office of DOH 6 is located in Mandurriao is owned by West Visayas Sanitarium.

Convocar said, if they will have their new office in Sta. Barbara they will vacate their regional office in Mandurriao and they will turnover it to the Western Visayas Medical Center and eventually this will increase the bed capacity of the hospital.
