The Iloilo City Government issued an Executive Order (EO) providing areas for selling and buying firecrackers and pyrotechnics in the metropolis.

Mayor Jose Espinosa III issued EO 119 designating Circumferential Road 1 corner Jocson St.; C1 corner Iloilo East Coast-Capiz along Ondoy’s Sugbahan; and Muelle Loney St. along riverside fronting Muelle Loney Statue.

“We are not disallowing selling of authorized items but these should be regulated to celebrate the Holiday Season without any untoward incident,” Espinosa said.

The stalls should be one-meter apart from each other with a dimension of two-meter by four-meter, eight-meter floor area, and shall have a double-wall made of hardiflex for inner side, and GI sheet for outer side and roof.

They are also required to post “no testing” and “no smoking” signages with a dimension of three-feet by two-feet bearing the telephone number of Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), and provide one fire extinguisher.

Cooking is prohibited in the area and the display should be covered with plastic.

Only LED lights are allowed to be used within the premises and electrical outlets are likewise prohibited.

Vendors can start putting up their kiosks after getting a special permit from the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), said Jeck Conlu, head of Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO). (Merianne Grace Ereñeta/Iloilo City PIO)
