LGPMS is a self-assessment, management and development tool that enables Iloilo City to determine its capabilities and limitations in the delivery of essential public services.
LGPMS results are communicated in the 2012 State of Local Governance Performance Report (SLGPR) which highlights five areas of governance including Administrative Governance with a rating of 4.73; Social Governance and Economic Governance each with an excellent rating of 5; Environmental Governance with 4.88 and Valuing Fundamentals of Governance with 4.94.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said the high rating showed the city’s good governance that is well-managed, transparent and innovative leading to continued progress and sustainable development.
He added the City Government continues to improve performance through effective delivery of social services and active collaboration with stakeholders through participatory governance.
The city is a consistent awardee of good governance awards including Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards, Seal of Good Housekeeping and Gawad Pamana ng Lahi from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to name a few.
Administrative Governance includes local legislation, development planning, revenue generation, resource allocation and utilization, customer service-civil application and human resource management and development.
Social Governance covers health services, support to education services, housing and basic utilities, and peace, security and disaster risk management.
Economic Governance focuses on support to agriculture sector, fishery services, entrepreneurship, business and industry promotion.
Environmental Governance covers coastal marine and urban ecosystem management.
Valuing Fundamentals of Governance embraces participation, transparency and financial accountability.
