The first solar power plant in Panay, Iloilo Solar Power Plant will span "approximately 12 hectares and based on solar irradiation studies, is a very viable location for the project,” the company posted in their website.
Energy Sec. Jericho Petilla and Ramon Duremdes Jr. of Cosmo Solar Energy, Inc. will lead the groundbreaking on October 14, with Sen. Franklin Drilon also gracing the event.
Cosmo was awarded last year a 25-year Solar Energy Contract by the Department of Energy for the development of solar farm.
"The plant will be comprised of quality materials from leading solar manufacturers in the United States, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, and China. Utilizing the natural contours of the land and customized mounting system, COSMO will minimize the environmental impact and also ensure the safety of all surrounding areas, while producing clean renewable energy to enhance local supply in the Philippines," Cosmo detailed in the site.
Meanwhile, the National Economic and Development Authority said supports the project as it is seen to reduce our long-term dependence on fossil fuel and imported oil.
