Jaro Police Station 'Most Citizen-Friendly' in WV

Jaro Police Station of the Iloilo City Police Office became the first police station in the region elevated to the Hall of Fame of the Most Citizen-Friendly Police Station award.

For winning the award’s city category and eventually as Hall of Fame awardee this year, P/SInsp. Herbert Ballego, Chief of the Jaro Police Station, received the MCF icon and P15,000 cash from Police Regional Office 6 Director P/Csupt. Josephus Angan and National Police Commission 6 Director Marte Palomar during the opening ceremonies of the 20th National Crime Prevention Week held at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand on Monday.

Ballego was joined by his predecessors P/Supt. Gilbert Gorrero and P/CInsp. Rhea Santos during the awarding of the five-foot icon which will now permanently stay at the lobby of the Jaro Police Station after defending the award for three consecutive years.

Coming in next to Jaro Police Station in the city category was the Roxas City Police Station which won P10,000 and tied in third place are Bago City Police Station and San Carlos City Police Station which won P5,000 each.

On the other hand, Kalibo Municipal Police Station won the municipal category. It took home P15,000 and the other MCF icon which will be displayed in its lobby until the next awarding.

The other winners in the municipal category are Pavia Police Station, second with P10,000; and San Jose Police Station, third with P5,000.

All the runners-up in both categories received trophies and plaques of recognition.

In his short message, Palomar said the MCFPS icon project has significantly improved the performance of police personnel especially in dealing with their clients as well as benefited people under their areas of jurisdiction.
