The Iloilo City Government is a recipient of a Mobile Dental Clinic (MDC) from the Department of Health (DOH) that is expected to bring quality dental treatment to Ilonggos who may otherwise have no access to this essential healthcare.

“This will definitely bring dental services closer to the people, just like what we have been doing with all other programs and projects of the city that are made accessible and available in the barangays,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

The MDC will go to the city’s far-flung barangays to cater to the dental needs of the people.

“The mobile clinic is equipped with state of the art facility and will be manned by our dentists,” said Dr. Daishiela Valasote, head of the city’s Dental Division.

The MDC will operate immediately after its inauguration next week.

Meanwhile, the Dental Division is gearing up for the celebration of Dental Health Month this February.

Several activities are lined up like poster-making contest which is open to all city public elementary schools; and the Search for Orally-Fit Child for Grades 5 and 6 pupils from public schools in the city on February 22 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall.

Winners will receive cash prizes and consolation prizes will be given to qualified finalists. [via PNA]
