Iloilo City wins Seal of Good Local Governance 2016

Iloilo City wins the much-coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) during the recognition and awarding which highlights the culminating activity of 25th anniversary celebration of Local Government Code (LGC) at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila on Thursday, October 27.


DILG conferred the award to Iloilo City as a "symbol of city's journey towards good local governance upholding the standards of transparency, integrity and service delivery."

Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said the award affirmed the City Government's outstanding good governance and excellent delivery of social services to the people.

"We continue to find ways to promote and improve our work in good governance. It is only through unity and cooperation in implementing our programs that we can attain our dreams for Iloilo City," stressed Mabilog.

The city is among 306 local government units (LGUs) that have passed the test of good local governance with notable performance and service delivery set across several areas. Here are other conferees in the region:

The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) originated from the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH). It is the departments response to the clamor of the people for integrity and performance in public service.




SGLG therefore, challenge local governments to continue good governance practices while providing better public services.

Thus, the Seal of Good Local Governance symbolizes integrity and good performance of local governments. It is a continuing challenge for provincial, city, and municipal governments to do better today and in the years to come.

The SGLG awardees will receive an incentive fund called Performance Challenge Fund which they can use for the implementation of local development projects. [via Iloilo City PIO]
