Iloilo city mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog had to explain his side Thursday after he went viral in social media once again for doing the 'Duterte pose'.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog posted on Facebook this original photo with Ms. Irma Lim, a 'Duterte die hard supporter.' Photo via Facebook.

Critics of Mabilog lambasted the city mayor for posing beside a framed picture of President Rodrigo Duterte and doing the clenched fist sign associated with the Duterte. He was called 'balimbing' or political butterfly by his detractors for ditching the Liberal Party 'L' sign in favor of 'the fist.'

The photo was posted in various pro-Duterte and anti-Liberal Party Facebook pages, and was jeered by netizens.

Mabilog explained through his official Facebook page that the original photo was taken at the Iloilo City Mayor's office with "Ms. Irma Lim, a well known original Duterte die hard supporter."

"Some quarters have managed to get a copy of this picture, crop it and put some malicious statements on this," he added.

"The Social Secretary of Malacañang through the League of Cities sent this picture with frame of the President Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and is now on display at the Iloilo City Mayor's office. Mayor Mabilog is proud and happy to display his picture and fully supports his programs on anti-corruption, criminality and illegal drugs.

"However, Mayor Mabilog says that like the latest statement of President Mayor Duterte said that he is not into politics but wants to serve well the Filipinos. And just like the other Local Chief Executives in the country, there is nothing wrong with Mayor Mabilog supporting the President and his noble intentions," he concluded.
