From January to May this year, patients from the 180 barangays underwent minor surgical procedures including circumcision, mass excision, suturing of wounds and disarticulation of the phalange; as well as for electrocautery and electrocardiogram.
“This is a free service of the city for indigents and the urban poor because we know how expensive it is if they avail of these in private clinics,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.
The circumcision alone had 2,745 patients including street children and grade-schoolers who took the opportunity while they are in summer vacation.
The center is equipped with two operating tables, ECG machine, brand new autoclave, X-ray, cauterizer, among others.
Mabilog stressed the initiative brings health and medical access and services closer to the constituents and benefits more Ilonggos.
The Surgical Outreach Services is located in the Barangay Health Center Brgy. Dungon-B, Jaro district. It is being managed and headed by executive assistant IV, Dr. Erwin Plagata.
